Hyundai car prices to go up in February

Hyundai Motor India (HMIL) is all set to hike prices of its cars in India, from the 1st February 2010, this move comes amidst rising cost of raw material.

According to Mr Arvind Saxena, Director Sales & Marketing, HMIL, price of Hyundai’s cars will be increased by 1-1.5% and will be implemented from the first of February.

With this, Hyundai India joins the slew of car manufactures in India, who have decided to hike prices of their vehicles, citing increased input costs.

Volvo announces 2010 growth plan for Indian market

Volvo Auto India today unveiled its growth strategy for 2010 in the Indian Car industry. With a 49% growth in 2009, Volvo remains bullish about India and is planning to launch all new diesel Volvo S80 with twin turbo technology and the much awaited Volvo XC60 with the revolutionary ‘City Safety’ technology in the first half this year, the company also plans to introduce Volvo S60 post its Global launch.

Speaking to the media, Mr. Paul de Voijs, Managing Director, Volvo Auto India, said, “India is the next growth destination in the Asia Pacific region and Volvo Cars is committed to be a part of that growth. In keeping with our strategy until now we have concentrated on laying a strong foundation for our brand. Our mantra for 2010 will be to strengthen our presence in the country. Our goal is to become a trusted automobile luxury brand in the Indian market.”

“We want to include more passion and life and we want to do so more clearly. We have wonderfully well-designed cars that integrate good performance, exciting innovation and fresh communication. At the same time, we are in the lead in our pro-environmental work and in the field of innovative safety.”

Volvo plans to expand the current dealership base by additional 3-4 dealers targeting cities such as Bangalore, Jaipur, Ludhiana, Goa and Kolkata. Its existing operational dealerships are in Delhi, Mumbai, Kochi, Chennai, Hyderabad, Pune and Chandigarh.

“Going forward we will focus on creating a more powerful, modern and at the same time warmer image of the brand. Safety has always been a cornerstone of the company philosophy. The next step would be to continue to maintain and strengthen that with a holistic approach towards innovative technology,” Mr. de Voijs further added.

Nissan 370Z launched in India

Nissan Motor India has launched its sports car, 370Z in India.

Nissan 370Z would now be available in India in two variants; automatic and manual transmission and is priced at Rs. 53.5 and Rs. 54.5 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi) respectively.

Speaking at the launch Mr. Kiminobu Tokuyama, Nissan Motor India Pvt Ltd’s MD and CEO, said, “Nissan is here to fulfill the diverse motoring needs of Indian customers. The car enables discerning performance car enthusiasts in the country to live fast with its breath-taking performance, cutting-edge technology and seductive design and at a very attractive price.”

Nissan 370Z is powered by a V6 3.7liter engine, which produces 332bhp @ 7000rpm and generates 363Nm of torque at 5200rpm. While the manual (370Z MT) variant comes with 6-speed manual transmission and Synchro Rev Control, 370Z AT (automatic transmission) comes with a 7-speed automatic transmission with manual shift mode.

At the launch of Nissan 370Z, Nissan Motor India also said that it is bullish about the Indian Auto Market and its presence here and is planning to launch 9 new models in the next couple of years.
