BS IV fuel to cost more…
With Bharat Stage IV emission norms all set to come into effect in 13 metros in India on the first of April, oil companies have to start producing cleaner petrol and diesel, which will cost more than the BS III fuel currently being sold in these cities.
According to petroleum secretary Mr. S. Sundareshan, BS IV petrol would cost 46 paisa more to produce while the BS IV Diesel will cost 26 paisa more, something which is likely to be passed on to the consumers*.
Oil companies are also making sure that in the 100km radius of Delhi, only BS IV fuel would be available for sale, in order to ensure BS III fuel does not makes its way into the capital.
*Since the usual taxes would also be imposed on such a hike, you will likely end up seeing a higher price rise than posted above.
